Father Phoon

Father Phoon by David R. Darrow 5" x 7" (12.7cm x 17.78cm)
Oil on Panel SOLD Collection of Doris Darrow
Sunnyvale, CA – USA

About This Painting

This is my brother John, creator of the crazy website Phoons.com.

He posed for this picture while succumbing to a bad fever and flu-bug, hence the fuzzy, warm hat. He looked so uncharacteristically tired and worn that I just knew it would make a great painting.

David R. Darrow's Paintcast™I am kind of selfish that way, sometimes.

Hey David, nice painting. I like your palette, I can see what you gleaned from Richard Schmid. Your use of gray is very nice, it emphasizes the color on his face. And you show real control while maintaining a spontaneous brushstroke, well done!

I'm a watercolorist but now trying to learn to use oil. I really love your paintings. wish I could be as good as you. I have no problem with drawing or coloring but oil medium is. Please visit my site: romeotanghalsr.com and look at my drawings. Can I do it in oil?
